In March of 2018 the Gobioff Foundation was hearing from local arts non-profits about the impact of the State of Florida Budget. The stories of how each individual arts organization was going to change their programming for the year concerned the Gobioff Foundation as they reflected on the overall arts community and trickle of funding to smaller arts organizations. With an attitude of wanting to help ALL the arts non-profits but not having the resources to do so, the idea of pooling funds together was discussed. A colleague recently reminded us of this pertinent phrase “a rising tide lifts all boats”.
Thus, the Gobioff Foundation set up the fund at the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. The fund started with a $100,000 donation by the Gobioff Foundation and a match from the Vinik Family Foundation.
“The Vinik Family Foundation recognizes the vital role that the arts play in the life of the community and is happy to support the Tampa Bay Arts Bridge Fund. “ – Penny Vinik
The intent of the fund is to fill an immediate need caused by the disaster imposed by the State of Florida budget. The success of this fund is not only dependent on raising money but also educating and advocating for a comprehensive arts policy.
Donations made to the fund are tax deductible.
